Fuzzibunz vs. Undiluted Bleach

Experiment: I soaked a PUL pocket diaper overnight in undiluted bleach. Now, I didn’t want to sacrifice a diaper that I regularly use so a friend gave me this Fuzzibunz to use as the elastics are shot. It had, however, perfect PUL. This experiment was to show the effects of undiluted bleach on PUL to refute any argument that a 30 minute properly *diluted* bleach soak could be harmful. This is a 3+year old diaper.

Materials:

  • Fuzzibunz Diaper with perfect PUL but shot elastics
  • Disinfecting Bleach
  • Plastic 5 gallon tote
  • Presoak Photos:

Notes: Took the diaper out, rinsed In hot then washed in the washer. You can see the color that was soaked with bleach but also exposed to oxygen was the part that faded. The PUL is in PERFECT condition  The leg elastics were shot pre-soak but the back elastic had been recently replaced and remains perfectly springy. They in no way feel brittle.
