We see a lot of people on here everyday express the stress and apprehension they feel about cloth diapering after viewing the posts in our Facebook group. We want to reiterate that this is a TROUBLESHOOTING group and the posts do not accurately reflect the experience of the vast majority of members and cloth diapering parents!
We have nearly 80,000 members here and we may see a couple hundred posts a day, we’re also growing by at least 100 members per day. People come to us for help and that’s often when routines can get involved and the questions to troubleshoot get lengthy. It’s difficult to troubleshoot virtually, much more difficult than it would be to do so in person so we ask a ton of really specific questions to ensure we’re helping the best way that we can. When people come to us for help in establishing their wash routine we also try to be as detailed as possible to ensure the highest chance for success without future issue. There are a lot of abnormal circumstances that also lead to a more complicated routine such as a poorly designed washing machine or one that is old and perhaps not working properly. People have varying degrees of difficult water conditions or specific health or lifestyle needs.
Please understand that these posts are not the norm for cloth diapering parents and many are often a quick fix. Cloth diapering is EASY and washing is SIMPLE.
Prewash. Wash. Dry.
Use adequate and effective detergent.
Make adjustments for water hardness as needed.
