Hurricane Harvey Fundraiser

Hurricane Harvey Fundraiser

“I’ve been sitting at my computer for at least an hour trying to find the words to open this post and I’m having a hard time finding them. As many (all?) of you know, Texas was recently hit with a hurricane and subsequent flooding that has caused a disaster to rival Katrina and Sandy. There are no words to adequately describe the horror and despair felt at watching the events of the last week unfold along the Texas coast. Thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions…we don’t even know yet how many people are in need right now, of Texans are without shelter, food, and basic necessities. I sit here in my relative safety in north Texas and I watch with a feeling of impotence because I am unable to help in a way that I feel is enough. I want to be able to fix the pain and suffering that my fellow Texans are feeling. I want to be able to snap my fingers and put everything back together again. I can’t, though. I firmly believe that with the goodness I’ve seen in other human beings over the last week that even if we can’t put the Texas coast back together the way it was, we can make a positive difference in the lives of the people affected by hurricane Harvey. I see you, we see you, you beautiful people wanting to give the shirts off your backs to help those less fortunate than you. The kindness you show people you’ve never met, that you likely never will meet, is noticed and we thank you for it.” – BP

We’d like to use our audience and voice in the cloth diaper community to support the local organizations that are making such an impact during this time. We’ve compiled a list of organizations collecting funds and supplies at this time with the help of NPR and Texas Monthly:
